Loren Abbey joined Rasmuson Foundation in August 2022 as director of people and culture. He is responsible for strategic approaches for all human resource functions, including organizational design, performance, engagement, staffing, organizational learning, benefits and more. He loves working with people and has a strong passion for nonprofits.
Loren moved to Alaska in 2008 after receiving his bachelor’s degree from Washington State University. Around that time, he started his career in the nonprofit sector as a grant writer for Boys & Girls Club of Alaska. He has since worked in various human resources capacities for Abused Women’s Aid in Crisis (AWAIC,) Access Alaska and, most recently, Aleutian Pribilof Island Community Development Association.
He is a proud husband and devoted father. Loren loves most things outdoors: biking the trails around Anchorage, snowboarding, hiking, fishing and of course camping. He has even been known to “glamp.” He can be found enjoying his free time with friends and family, playing with his dogs and feeding the family’s chickens.
