David Rosenthal

David Rosenthal grew up in Maine. After graduating from the University of Maine at Farmington in 1976, he moved to Cordova, Alaska where he presently resides and works. Rosenthal traveled extensively in Alaska as part of the Alaska Artists-in-the-Schools program. He also traveled to the high arctic including the north polar ice cap, Greenland and the Northwest Passage as part of the U.S. Coast Guard Art Program. Rosenthal was selected for the National Science Foundation Antarctic Artist and Writers program for residencies at McMurdo Station for an austral summer 1993-94 season, and for the austral winter of 1998. He also spent an austral winter at Palmer Station on the Antarctic Peninsula. Rosenthal had a traveling exhibit of Antarctic work shown at art and natural history museums, and university galleries in 15 states and New Zealand. Rosenthal has been in 10 All Alaska Juried Shows and has been awarded three media awards and two honorable mentions.
