Kathy Smith

Kathy Smith is the middle generation of a family of artists. Her mother was an artist, and now her two sons have also shown artistic talent. “I’ve done art all my life. Mostly I’m a painter, but I also do fiber art, etchings and woodblock prints. My works are a response to the Alaska landscape,” he said. Smith’s family moved to Alaska when she was 6, and she fell in love with the state. Moving to Homer after her marriage, she now is co-owner of the Homer Bookstore. She works out of her garage studio and has had shows and exhibits at Ptarmigan Arts, Alaska Pacific University and Bunnell Street Gallery.
