Kesler Woodward
Kesler Woodward grew up in South Carolina and entered Davidson College in North Carolina as a chemistry major, but was inspired by a painting professor to dedicate his life to art. He earned his BA in Art in 1973 from Davidson and his MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Idaho State University. Woodward has been making art, writing about art, and teaching art for more than 30 years. Woodward often concentrates his painting on northern landscapes, especially birch trees. Woodward taught Art at the University of Alaska Fairbanks for 20 years, retiring as a Professor Emeritus in 2000. In 2004, he was awarded the Alaska Governor’s Art Award for Lifetime Achievement. His pieces can be found in collections around the U.S. Woodward now paints full time in Fairbanks.
