Matt Johnson earned a BA in Graphic Design from Portland State University in 1984 and has worked in visual communications and as a designer for many years around the state. He served as an adjunct professor of Art and Graphic Design for the University of Alaska Anchorage and was a recipient of a 2006 Rasmuson Foundation Individual Artist Award. Johnson is currently involved in the Alaska Statehood Experience Grant Program in conjunction with the International Gallery of Contemporary Art and Alaska Photographic Center. His work is held in collections at the Alaska State Museum, the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center, the Museum of the North and the Alaska Contemporary Art Bank. He has served as a panelist and speaker throughout his artistic career and was a founding member and past president of the American Institute of Graphic Artists, Alaska Chapter. Johnson currently resides in Anchorage.
