It’s always summer at the greenhouse. In Hoonah, Áa Kawduwahaa yé (“Where We Plant”) Greenhouse is Hoonah Indian Association’s answer to food insecurity. What started as a way to give Hoonah residents more access to fresh produce has bloomed into an opportunity for learning, workforce development, partnership—and inspiration, as other Southeast communities consider growing greenhouses of their own. 

Hoonah Indian Association received a $250,000 Community Support grant in 2023 for the greenhouse project.
