A climate of wellness for Alaska schools
Alaska kids have been dealing with a lot. Pandemic shutdown. Years of isolation with virtual school. Unrealistic images from social media. Connection and support is critical.
Providence Alaska, in partnership with Volunteers of America, is expanding a behavioral health model that integrates clinicians and a climate of wellness into schools. The comprehensive approach in selected Anchorage and Kodiak Island Borough schools aims to deepen community engagement and improve student health and well-being.
“Young lives are being changed, even saved, each day through equitable access to behavioral health care, reaching children through services based right in their schools” said Suzanne Carté-Cocroft, Providence Alaska’s chief philanthropy officer.
A $350,000 Foundation grant supports program expansion and evaluation over three years.
