Two longtime programmatic leads will be departing Rasmuson Foundation in September.

For years, Vice President Alexandra McKay and Chief of Staff Jeff Baird have worked with nonprofits on everything from idea development to celebrating project completions.  They informed the Foundation of their departure plans earlier this year to allow time for transition planning.

“It has been my honor to be able to work with people who, day-in and day-out, are focused on making Alaska the place we all aspire it to be,” McKay said. “They are what brought me back to my home state, and working with them has been the highlight of my time at Rasmuson Foundation.”

McKay joined Rasmuson Foundation in 2017, after a 13-year career with Casey Family Programs. She oversees the Foundation’s programmatic work, most recently focusing on strategic analysis and impact. Baird was hired in 2011 and spent seven years working various programmatic roles before transitioning to chief of staff in 2018.

Two familiar Foundation faces will join Vice President of Programs Chris Perez as the new primary contacts for programmatic questions. Tanya King has been promoted to director of programs and Tasha Pineda to senior program officer for strategy and initiatives. King previously served as a senior program officer and Pineda as a program officer.

“Alexandra and Jeff care deeply about Alaska and it showed in their work,” President and CEO Gretchen Guess said. “Chris, Tanya and Tasha have similar values and will make sure our service to nonprofits doesn’t miss a beat.”

Neither McKay nor Baird have definite next steps beyond a desire to pause and spend time with family.

“I’m looking forward to trying out the role of Chief without a Staff for a little bit,”  Baird said.

Jeff and Alex are sporting their new Foundation-branded, Alaska map-wear. They celebrated their years of service with the Rasmuson Foundation board in June 2023.
