Gary Scott

Director of Communications

Gary Scott joined the Foundation’s strategy group in 2024 as the Director of Communications. With more than 25 years of experience leading integrated campaigns from Ketchikan to Utqiaġvik and everywhere in between, his focus at the Foundation is to share the stories of Alaskans and organizations who are working to make the state a better place.  

He came from Thompson & Co. Public Relations, where he led account teams responsible for clients in economic development, health care, education, retail, and transportation. His nonprofit experience includes more than seven years with Recover Alaska and addressing homelessness through his work with the Homelessness Leadership Council, Alaska Housing and United Way. His strengths include crisis communications, change management, social marketing, community partnerships and mentorship.

Gary is the chair of the Anchorage Community Land Trust board of directors and former board member of the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce where he was a founding member and co-chair of the Diversity Committee. He is also a past president of the Public Relations Society of America Alaska Chapter, where he’s volunteered for more than 25 years and currently serves as co-chair of its Education Committee and liaison of its University of Alaska Anchorage student chapter.

He lives in Anchorage with his wife, Caroline, and three children, where he enjoys live music, playing soccer and exploring the state with his family and friends.
