2025 Project Award

Gunaashaa Lisa Fisher, Ryan Cortes and Kaila Buerger of Gemini Waltz Media will work together to honor and preserve Alaska’s cultural heritage. Fisher, a Ravenstail weaver, is the project lead. The group plans to complete a short documentary that uses storytelling, art direction and filmmaking to capture the artistry, history, revival and living legacy of Ravenstail weaving.

When asked what they would like the public to know, the group shared: “We are a collaborative team of artists committed to honoring and preserving Alaska’s cultural heritage. Lisa Fisher brings her deep connection to the Ravenstail weaving community, centering the voices of those who revitalized and continue to teach this art. Gemini Waltz Media (Ryan Cortes and Kaila Buerger) contribute storytelling, art direction and filmmaking expertise to share these stories with a wide audience. Together, we aim to create a documentary that is both authentic and visually compelling, highlighting the people and practices that sustain this living tradition, and inspiring future generations of weavers.”
