Janie Caq’ar Ferguson joined Rasmuson Foundation in October 2024 as a Program Officer.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Janie was at the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority where she served about two years as program officer for three funding areas: mental health & addiction, employment, and workforce development. She is a lifelong Alaskan with roots in Mekoryuk on Nunivak Island in the Bering Sea (30 miles west of the coast, 150 air miles from Bethel). She is a graduate of East High and UAA. Before joining the Trust, she was a clinical community liaison for North Star Behavioral Health, working statewide to help families access behavioral health services in Anchorage and back at home in hub and village communities. She also spent six and a half years at ANTHC with a couple of years as part of the suicide prevention program.

In her free time, Janie likes fishing, gathering subsistence foods, spending time with family, hiking, and catching up on documentaries.
