Lile R. Gibbons is the granddaughter of Rasmuson Foundation founder Jenny Rasmuson, and has served on the Foundation Board since 1997. She also is a trustee of the John A. Hartford Foundation in New York City. Lile retired in 2013 from the Connecticut State Legislature, where she served for 12 years in the House of Representatives, representing the 150th District in Greenwich.

Lile has served on numerous nonprofit boards both local and statewide including the Greenwich Board of Education. In July 2020, she joined the board of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts.

She grew up in Anchorage, attended West High School and graduated from Smith College in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts in economics. She and her husband, John A. Gibbons Jr., have been married for more than 50 years. They have four married children and 13 grandchildren. The Gibbonses reside in Greenwich, Connecticut, but make numerous trips to Alaska throughout the year.
