2023 Project Award

De la Uz will create and exhibit a series of black-and-white photographs to explore the foggy zone between individual growth and community identification. This visual narrative will tell the story of de la Uz’s son, a young adolescent struggling to integrate into the Alaska way of life, organized around his son’s vision of his community and how the community sees him. Transitioning from life in the big city to small-town life in Alaska can be complicated for a young person. This exhibit will tell the unique story of one young man as he becomes the person he wants to be.

The exhibit is scheduled for November 2023 at the Bunnell Street Art Center in Homer.
