About the artist

Sarah Beaty holds a BA from Gonzaga University (1997), and an MA and MFA from the University of Iowa (2000 and 2001 respectively). Her ceramic art has been featured in many solo and group exhibitions in several states. “The scope and language of clay, from its geologic past to its modern applications, present a powerful mandate . . . I want my work to have tactile and visual energy; to shake the air around it,” she said. Beaty has been an instructor, visiting artist, lecturer and apprentice in Alaska, Iowa, and France. Her pieces are in numerous collections including the Alaska State Museum, the University of Iowa Museum of Art, and the Rogue’s Gallery at Gonzaga University.
