Foundation announces $9.7 million in awards, projects

Anchorage –  Rasmuson Foundation’s board of directors met last week and made $9.7 million in awards to support nonprofit activities and continue Foundation initiatives aimed at strengthening the nonprofit sector and Alaska communities. The projects receiving funding were (organized by region):

Anchorage –  Note: This news was released by Alaska Botanical Garden and shared here.Alaskans and visitors have a new reason to visit the Alaska Botanical Garden – Lile’s Garden. The newly named garden features perennials, shrubs, bulbs and the garden’s first fruit trees.

Tier 1 Awards Announced

Anchorage –  Rasmuson Foundation announced that in the fourth quarter of 2012 it made 32 Tier 1 awards for a total of $579,034. This draws to a close a year in which a record number of Tier 1 grants were awarded: 133 awards for nearly $2.6 million.

July 1 marked the beginning of the new fiscal year for the State of Alaska, which means the rubber just hit the road for a process that began in December 2011 with the introduction of the Governor’s operating, capital, and mental health budget proposals, continued through the legislative session this spring as lawmakers made their mark on the bills, and culminated in mid-May with the bills’ signing.
