Rasmuson Foundation is simplifying its grant programs to make it easier for Alaska organizations to find funding support for projects that empower Alaskans to help each other. 

The Foundation is returning to its Tier 2 grant program, which replaces the Community Support and Legacy programs. Tier 2 grants support larger capital and one-time programmatic requests over $35,000. These grant requests will begin with a Letter of Inquiry from applicants, establishing an opportunity to connect with the Foundation before completing a full application. 

“Alaskans have no shortage of good ideas,” said Rasmuson Foundation President & CEO Gretchen Guess. “We’re proud to support leaders and organizations that are building on community strengths and creating benefits that can be felt for years to come.” 

The Tier 1 program will continue to support small capital projects and one-time expenses (buy, build, fix, and create) up to $35,000. 

Organizations with existing applications or Letters of Inquiry that have already been submitted do not need to take any action. Organizations preparing new applications should review the Tier 1 and Tier 2 guidelines for updates on our website. 

Since 1955, Alaska organizations have put Foundation funding to work through a wide variety of community priorities. Over the last 70 years, the Foundation has supported about 12,000 projects with nearly $580 million.
