Addie Studebaker
Mat-Su Valley
Project Award 2025
Addie Studebaker, an interdisciplinary artist, is known for her interactive art installations and multi-sensory experiences. She will continue to work on a series of dynamic sculptures that visually interpret soundscapes recorded in cooperation with the National Park Service. These spectrograms will be installed in pairs, creating visual and aural juxtapositions of events taking place simultaneously at specific moments in time.
When asked what she would like the public to know, Addie responded, ” I have had some formal training in sculpture, but I studied political science and linguistics and have taught university English and writing for almost 20 years. I also have four really fun children. Although it may not align with traditional or linear timelines, processes, or paradigms, I don’t see caregiving or outside vocations as at odds with working as an artist. For me, these roles all serve as essential fuel and inspiration for each other, forming a holistic, creative practice and day-to-day life where exploring, playing, learning, sharing, and caring for and in this world are priorities; fitting into boxes is not.”
