Peter A. Lind Jr.
Wasilla
2025 Project Award
Peter A Lind, Jr. plans to expand the scale and materiality of his work. Lind is recognized for his work in a range of materials: ivory and baleen jewelry, dolls, carvings, hunting gear, bentwood visors and small-scale masks representing the nuanced facets of his Aleut/Alutiiq culture. He will carve a full-sized “Searcher” mask and bring it to a foundry in Oregon to have it scanned and cast in bronze. Lind received a Fellowship Award in 2019.
When asked what he would like the public to know, Lind Jr. responded, “I am not specific to a certain medium. I like experiencing different realms of art. I do dolls, carvings, and masks. I enjoy doing different items that represent my culture.”

Lind, a carver, works in wood and ivory. He is inspired by how Alutiiq art forms communicate heritage, knowledge and traditional lifeways. He will complete a studio on his property so he can work and teach safely indoors year-round.
