McAdoo will create new Alaska-based works of edible art that communicate complex climate change data for her Edible Climate Archive, a project that encompasses science communication, material experimentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

This excerpt from an interview with REI Co-op’s podcast, “Wild Ideas Worth Living,” showcases the constraints Rose McAdoo has navigated to create challenging art in remote locations. The audio accompanies a work-in-progress video of McAdoo crafting saltwater taffy on the diminishing sea ice in Svalbard, Norway. The main ingredient was collected by drilling through the ice to obtain an Arctic Ocean water sample.
