Organization Description

Since 1978, Aiding Women in Abuse and Rape Emergencies (AWARE) has provided safe shelter and support services to women and children who have experienced or are at high risk of domestic violence or sexual assault. The organization also oversees a program for male offenders.

Saralyn Tabachnick began as AWARE executive director in 2002 and received her sabbatical in 2007. She remained in the top job until 2019, when she moved to another position on staff.
