Anchorage, AK – Today Rasmuson Foundation President Diane Kaplan distributed a position paper to members of Governor Walker’s transition team gathered in Fairbanks to discuss the state’s fiscal future. In it, the Foundation calls on elected officials to craft a fiscal plan through strategic cuts to the general operating budget, a broad-based tax, wise use of excess Permanent Fund earnings, and fine-tuning oil production tax credits.

“These decisions will be hard, but it’s time to protect Alaska’s quality of life,” said Kaplan.

“My family has been in Alaska for 100 years,” said Ed Rasmuson, chair of Rasmuson Foundation. “And to date, Rasmuson Foundation has invested $250 million in communities throughout Alaska.

“For Alaska to maintain the quality of life we all desire, the state must adopt a rational, achievable fiscal plan. Rasmuson Foundation is ready to help,” Rasmuson said.
