Devita Stipek Writer

Devita Stipek Writer has been painting in Alaska for more than 40 years. From 1962-65 she studied fine arts at Cornish School of Allied Arts. Her oil paintings, art prints, murals and interior art range from very large expressive landscapes to figures and street scenes, and have been featured in numerous solo exhibits. During 2001-04 she was commissioned to paint more than 50 large scale paintings – some as wide as 20 feet – to be permanently exhibited on Carnival Cruise Lines new ships. Writer loves working with oil paints, enjoying their “luminosity, the variety of texture, and permanency,” and prefers to work outdoors. She currently lives in Juneau.
