Douglas Inga

Douglas Inga was born and raised in Old Harbor on Kodiak Island, Alaska. Inga’s father was a traditional chief in Old Harbor. His father taught his children all the traditional values of the Alutiiq culture. Inga has been an artist most of his life and he credits his father and brother-in-law who also taught him wood carving. He also makes beaded headdresses and ivory jewelry. Inga is skilled at making tools for hunting out of stone, wood, grass, animal skins, and metals.
