Art collectors know painter James Havens for his large, classic museum pieces featuring historic subject matter, percent for art projects, life sized sculptural reconstructions, large format digital photography, and most recently – complete installation exhibits. James Havens is an award winning artist – the most recent being the 2015 Lanzendorf PaleoArt Prize for best 2d art from the International Society of Vertebrate Paleontology.

James Havens attended the University of Alaska – Fairbanks & Anchorage as well as the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA.

James Havens is currently based in Anchorage. With his wife and children, he owns the Havens Studio and Gallery, LLC, which represents and publishes his art. Havens’ original pieces are featured in many private, corporate and permanent museum collections.
